I’m back, and I believe, this is it!

If you are to look at the title of my blog, you will notice that it’s very fitting to have it as the title for the reason that the last blog that I had was way back last January and it was even entitled “A renewed fire for blogging.” It’s funny because I wrote that blog with the very message of bringing myself back to the blogging world, but the next thing I knew, I blogged after six months. Looking back on what happened with the last months that I didn’t blogged, I realized somehow that one factor which took a toll on the regularity of my blogging was not really time, but my willingness to put myself available to think through my experiences and learnings and then making it tactile by typing it in blog site just like this for others to read and hopefully, be able to identify with it.

I am now more conscious that availability is a matter of the attitude, and not a matter of time. You could have so much time and not be available, but it’s possible to be available even if you don’t have much time -and it is easy to be available even if you don’t have much time-given that the thing that’s going to pull your availability is something that you love to do.

With this, I think that one thing I need to work out is the love to express the personal revelations i had through blogging.

A renewed fire for blogging.

As I am writing this blog, I am quite feeling guilty because it has been a while since i blogged. If I’m not mistaken, the last time I’ve blogged was in October, because the only one I’ve posted during the month of November was not even a blog. I am writing this blog to remind myself to blog again. I know it sounds funny but I am trying to resolve to myself to create a habit of blogging attitude this year. If you could remember, I wrote a blog before encouraging people to write their thoughts in the net with the use of blogsites, and here I am, not doing what i wrote. ( I am assuming that you are reading my blogs. haha.) This renewed fire was made possible not only with my own efforts but with the efforts of other people especially to my “blog mentor” Pastor Richard Dy. He’s the one who would continually encourage me and remind me to somehow blog again. (He did that to me maybe for months! haha)

While I was thinking about it, I remember one verse in the bible that says If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Ecclesiastes 4:10. What was revealed to me was that if I was not encouraged, I would probably gave up blogging already. I probably fell to become a lazy blogger, but I was rescued by a friend. Thanks to Kuya Richard! That’s the reason why God allowed friends in our lives. So treasure them ‘coz you’ll never could underestimate their power to help and influence you.

I came across a blog of Pastor Dennis Sy, the Senior Pastor of Victory Greenhills last October 11, Sunday. Its about blogging, why do we need to do it and why should we give it a try. I really liked the article because it encourages everyone to blog, for blogging is free and enables everyone to express their ideas whether someone would read it or not. My trip around the world.

Is it possible to tour around the world without ever leaving your seat and spending a centavo? This was the case for me and Elleke last October 4, Sunday as the two of us had a mini “around the world tour” using a website called wikimapia.org. In this website, you would be able to trace where the roads go, see famous landmarks, buildings and even your own house because it enables you to see everything in an aerial perspective, meaning you get to see the whole world from the top. I had fun and I really enjoyed it with Elleke as we are able to see parts of Europe and even her house in Holland. I felt like a kid again navigating the world using the site and it proved to me that enjoying doesn’t have to be expensive and touring around the world could be possible even without leaving the comforts of your seat.

Ondoy: A devastating visit.

Last September 25, a tropical storm named “Ondoy” passed by the country which made a very life-changing effect to the Filipinos. The storm which was classified as a tropical storm only and not even a typhoon (storms are techinally weaker than typhoons) devasted almost everything on its path not sparing even celebrities, politicians and high-end people. Everyone has their own story to tell (whether it is a testimony or bad experience) on how this storm literally changed their lives. I myself has my own story to share. Its our first time in my 21 years of living in San Mateo, Rizal to be devastated by such flood. its even my first time to experience such calamity wherein your neighbors have to evacuate and move in safer ground. I watched in grief as I see mothers carrying their children, people you don’t know that are actually putting their life in the line as they pass huge flood. I’m so thankful that me and my family were spared from being swept by the flood, though water came in up to the waist level of our home, our aplliances, clothes, furnitures were not corrupted by the water. God’s promise of protection to those who believe in Him is so evident as my family was able to endure the hardships of being in the midst of the calamity.

On the other hand, I was also thankful to be part of a spiritual family that helps people that were struck by the storm.Victory U-Belt and other Victory centers were proactive in the relief operations and rehabilitation of the mud-stricken places, by helping in cleaning houses and streets and giving comfort to those who were depressed. Is God involved in our everyday living?

Last September 9, Wednesday, on my way home to San Mateo, I rode an FX going to Fairview. I seated in front of the FX with the driver and a man chatting with each other. The volume of their voice makes it inevitable for me to listen to what they’re talking about. They were discussing with each other the love they had for their children, that the man sitting beside me even uttered “kaya ko ngang wag nang kumain at magutom ako ‘wag lang yung anak ko.” I quite actually do not care about what they are discussing, but the moment I heard those statements, those lines tugged in my heart.

Interestingly, I remember that God is like that father to us. He said in Matthew 7:11 ¹¹If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!. I was reminded that the kind of love that the fathers had in the FX for their children, is the same love that God has for us, that fathers like them could endure hardships for the sake of providing good future and things for their children. God demonstrated this kind of love when He allowed His one and only son, Jesus to die on the cross, for us not to experience the consequences of sin.

As I end, I want to leave this message for those people reading this blog. That the God we serve is a Father that enables Himself to be involved in the every day living of His children. He is not detached from us. I want to encourage everyone to “Let Him have all your worries and cares, for He is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you.” 1Peter5:7

God indeed loves us.

My new learning experience!

Due to the idea that we have to send newsletters for our partners to let them know what’s happening in the ministry that we do as campus ministers, last September 8, Tuesday, I was privileged to be taught in Adobe Photoshop by Venoit Dee, one of the seasoned campus ministers in Victory U-belt. Adobe is used to edit and create newsletters, posters, pictures, etc. She taught me how to insert images, how to distort it, make it bigger or smaller and more! I was kinda’ surprised to know that it’s quite simple and i could learn Adobe in just one sitting. I was delighted to understand also how it goes and how my notion with Adobe before that it’s not “user-friendly” was dramatically erased!

What revealed to me with this was sometimes, we just have to give ourselves a chance to learn new things and before we know it, we already have a new learning experience from it. As i was thinking about it, sometimes, we treat God the same way. We have a wrong notion about Him. Like me before, I didn’t actually know God that’s why I have the wrong notion about him. But the moment I read and meditated on the Bible, my notion and wrong mind sets about Him dramatically changed. So, that’s my challenge for everyone. Try to give yourself a chance to know about God and who He is in our lives and I bet your life would never be the same way again!

ENCM Graduation June ’09 Batch

Last August 25, tuesday, ENCM had its 3rd Commencement Exercises for the School of Campus Ministry. It was a night to remember for the new staff of ENCM-Ubelt; Sheldon Silva and Kristine Luv Corona as they will be added to the roster of seasoned campus ministers of the University Belt and ENCM as well. I was also able to get a glimpse of how it’s gonna be for me when I will be graduating next year at the School. I got excited for my school at the Fort next year because I know that it will equip me to do God’s work in the campuses.

The School of Campus Ministry – Manila is a two month program for those who desire to serve as full-time campus or youth workers. (Everynation.org) It trains individuals to become fully equipped to the work that God called them to do. It is located at the High-end Bonifacio Global City at the Fort.
